Revolutionizing Luxury: A Review of the BMW 7 Electric Car
BMW has introduced a brand-new generation of the 7-series, their top-tier luxury sedan and most advanced offering, for the 2023 model year. The overall formula remains similar to the current model, with power options including a turbocharged six-cylinder engine and a twin-turbo V-8. Additionally, a plug-in hybrid variant will join the lineup later. During our initial test drive, we noticed that the 7-series glides smoothly on the road. Its handling is slightly more agile than the 2022 version, thanks to updates in the chassis and suspension, including a new rear-wheel steering system. The car’s driver-assistance technology allows for hands-free driving on highways, but its standout feature is the optional Theater Screen, a 31.3-inch rear entertainment display that descends from the ceiling and offers streaming of TV shows and movies through the onboard Wi-Fi system.
What’s New for 2023?
BMW has completely overhauled the 7-series for 2023, resulting in a luxurious and technologically advanced vehicle. The plush cabin offers opulent comfort, while the futuristic features keep you connected and entertained. With its bold exterior styling, the 7-series commands attention on the road. Price and Selection
The 740i model of the new BMW 7-series features a smooth inline-six engine and is available with rear-wheel drive. It’s a great choice for most buyers. However, if you prefer all-wheel drive or more power, the 760i xDrive offers a twin-turbo V-8 engine. For those who want a luxurious and comfortable experience in the rear seats, we recommend the Executive Lounge package, which includes power-adjustable reclining seats with massage features, among other luxuries. Additionally, the 7-series offers an impressive 31.3-inch Theater Screen rear-seat entertainment system that can stream content using the car’s built-in Wi-Fi hotspot. Please note that we review the all-electric i7 model separately, as it is based on the same body shell.
Motor, Power, and Performance
The 740i is equipped with a standard turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine that delivers 375 horsepower. It also features a 48-volt hybrid system and is available only with rear-wheel drive. According to BMW, the 740i can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.0 seconds. On the other hand, the 760i xDrive is powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8 engine that produces 536 horsepower. It comes standard with all-wheel drive and also incorporates a 48-volt hybrid system. BMW claims that the 760i xDrive can reach 60 mph in 4.2 seconds. We had the opportunity to test the 760i xDrive and were impressed by its smooth operation and strong acceleration. The new 7-series features an air suspension as standard, and BMW has added a rear-wheel steering system and adaptive dampers to enhance the chassis. As a result, the new car feels more nimble than its predecessor while still prioritizing comfort over sportiness.

Real-World MPGe and Fuel Efficiency
The 2023 X1 is projected to achieve a fuel economy of around 25 miles per gallon (mpg) in the city and 34 mpg on the highway, as stated by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). These figures indicate a slight improvement compared to the previous 2022 model for both city and highway driving. In order to provide more precise information, we intend to perform a highway fuel economy test, driving at a speed of 75 miles per hour. Once the test is completed, we will update this article with the actual results. For more detailed information about the X1’s fuel economy, you can visit the official website of the EPA.
Interior of BMW 7 Electric Car
As the top-tier offering from BMW, the 7-series provides an abundance of luxuries for its passengers. The interior is adorned with fine leather, stylish stainless steel accents, and elegant glass and wood trim, creating a lavish atmosphere. For those seeking a more personalized touch, there’s even a new cashmere upholstery option available. The 7-series now rival the Mercedes-Benz S-class with its combination of advanced technology, sophisticated style, and opulent features. The spaciousness of the cabin is notable both in the front and rear, but it truly shines when equipped with the Executive Lounge package. This package includes power-adjustable reclining rear seats with massage functionality, a wireless smartphone charging pad in the rear, and neck cushions on the headrests that can be adjusted to your liking. The trunk is suitably spacious for a luxury sedan, and there’s a rear-seat pass-through for accommodating longer items like skis.
